"Derek, what are you doing?" Scott asked as he approached the young Alpha. There was tension in his face, drawing more lines in the man’s face to make him appear older.
The Alpha said nothing, just kept his eyes on the concrete floor, not daring to keep Scott’s eyes. He was sick of the anger and disappointment in everyone’s eyes. The last person he needed or wanted to see that from was Scott. .
Finally, Derek shrugged his shoulders “I don’t know,” It was the first time he had admitted the words aloud. He wasn’t cut-out to be an alpha, every choice he made blew up in his face causing more death to harden his heart.
Scott didn’t make a move to draw closer to Derek, he kept his distance, waiting for the older man to meet his eyes. Scott wan’t angry, or disappointed, he saw the burden that weighed on Derek’s shoulder. He just wished the Alpha would let someone help him carry it. .
